Objectives

At the conclusion of this training course the participant will be able to:

  1. Recognize the prevalence of COPD in Michigan and world-wide.
  2. Identify and assess COPD diagnosis using appropriate tools.
  3. Describe best practices for optimal COPD management.
  4. List COPD control strategies including self-management.

Audience

The course is intended for nurses, social workers, advanced practice providers, medical assistants, community health workers and other care team members who are seeking to expand their knowledge and skills.

Faculty

Karen Meyerson, MSN, APRN, NP-C, AE-C

Karen Meyerson graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner in private practice, specializing in asthma and allergies and served as the former manager of the Asthma Network of West Michigan (ANWM), the asthma coalition serving West Michigan. She is currently the Director of Commercial Care Management at Priority Health.
