To effectively impact chronic disease outcomes an understanding of the specific evidence-based guidelines and interventions is essential.

This is a three part recorded learning activity series designed to provide an introduction to managing patients with chronic, pain, headache & spinal issues. It is intended for care managers in  primary care or ambulatory care settings. This recorded material is available for nursing and social work enduring continuing education credits.

Our Presenters

Dr. James Hudson 

Dr. James Hudson specializes in the treatment of patients with chronic pain, headaches and fibromyalgia at the Mary Free Bed Pain Center. He received his undergraduate degree from Western Michigan University’s Honors College. He attended medical school at Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed his residency in family medicine at the Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners. He is a fellow of the American Board of Pain Medicine. Dr. Hudson is board-certified from the American Board of Family Medicine and is an active member of American Academy of Family Practice, American Pain Society, National Headache Foundation, Kent County Medical Society and Michigan State Medical Society.

Dr. Kelly Armstrong

Dr. Kelly Armstrong is a full-time physiatrist at Mary Free Bed. She specializes in treating patients with complex medical illnesses, cancer and related conditions, musculoskeletal injuries, women’s health, and sports-related injuries. Dr. Armstrong is a graduate of Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. She completed her physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education in Rochester, Minnesota.

James Hartlein

Jim is the Director of the Spine & Pain Center for Mary Free Bed.  He is a physical therapist who has been practicing for the last 25 years specializing in spinal rehabilitation.  He has a Master’s degree from the University of Michigan and a Doctorate from Boston University.
